2015 Season summary

It is time to summarize my first season in touring car racing.

It all began at the Hungaroring, where my debut in the Kia Lotos Race series took place. I finished as 10th and 7th, being the fastest debutant, which gave me 7th position overall.

After a successful debut it was time for the next round, this time on the Dutch circuit of Zandvoort. I liked this track from the start, I felt at home on it despite never having driven on it before, and the results confirmed it, because I took the excellent 5th position in the qualifying. In the races, I finished 6th and 7th. That moved me to the 6th place overall.

I went to the Slovakiaring hoping for a podium, and saw in the training sessions it was a possible aim. Unfortunately, in the first race, being on 4th, I was pushed out of the track by one of the opponents, who with this manouver damaged my wheel and suspension. I was forced to come to the pits so that my wheel could be changed and therefore I finished last. However, in the second race, starting from the last place I managed to finish 8th, climbing 12 places on the way.

After a summer break I came to Poznań. I liked this track very much as well. It all began perfectly, I was second on the grid to the first race and I was able to hold that position, but I was once again pushed out and finished 9th. Because of collisions I was not able to improve that place in race 2, and finished 9th again. It was not the perfect weekend considering my results on the races but my pace showed I am among the leaders.

But then it was time for Most. Won Q2, third on the grid, 6th + fastest race lap and a win in the second race gave me second place in the round’s classification and 5th overall. It was the best of this year’s rounds, confirming that my presence among the leaders was not a surprise. In the end of the season it turned out to be the only win of a 15- year- old and of a debutant throughout the year. It was my first time to be on the podium and on its highest step.

Zolder was a bit tricky for me. Unlucky qualifying, where on my first and only flying lap oil appeared on the track, which forced me to slow down and therefore finish 7th Then the first race, where I finished 2nd. Sadly, half of the field made a false start and unfortunately I turned out to be one of them. Despite the received time penalty I was classified as 4th.

In the end I was 5th overall. I am quite satisfied with this season, I was the fastest from the debutants and was able to fight for top places in Kia Lotos Race regularly. I will remember my first victory and the trophies will remind me of it for a long time to come.

I would like to congratulate my team mate Karol Urbaniak on winning the trophy!!!! I would also like to thank the BM Racing Team for preparing the car perfectly, for the involvement and support. Many thanks  to Mr. Paweł Mirecki, Bartek Mirecki, Mateusz Wagner, Michał Wróbel, Marcel and the whole team from KJK-Auto: Krzysztof Pliński, Mateusz Poch, Mały, Mateusz Żurawski (Czesław) and Michał!!!
